HEADWAY GIPPSLAND has been supporting people with Acquired Brain Injury and their carers for over 30 years.

”ABI” refers to any damage to the brain after birth. The damage may be from a stroke, an accident, alcohol and drug abuse, tumours or infection.

The brain injury can affect thinking, behaviour and personality. The consequences vary for the individual and may include memory loss, poor concentration, speech difficulties, irritability, fatigue, depression, socially inappropriate behaviour, sensory awareness, decreased motor control, lack of initiative and talking excessively.

Some people may not even be aware that they have a brain injury at all.

ABI can change your life forever and those close to you.

Staff at HEADWAY have years of experience and can cater for the complex needs of the individual and their families. They provide extensive support services including Individual Case Management, Respite Weekends and Workshops.
