Darnum resident, Ian Honey has announced his nomination for the Mount Worth ward in the Baw Baw Shire Council elections to be held in October.

Together with his family Ian has lived in the Shire for fourteen years and was a former resident of the Bairnsdale district for 15 years and served on the Bairnsdale City Council for five years.

He was appointed Festival Director for the Community two years running. He has a written citation given to him for his contribution to LG in Bairnsdale.

Ian attended Warragul Primary School and schools and colleges in Melbourne.

Ian’s work history includes fourteen years in the printing and packaging industries, together with a contract in Port Moresby PNG. and a term in London UK.

After returning to Australia, he and his wife, Jenny have owned two small farms. Project managed eleven houses, mostly of solar passive design.

Ian and Jenny established a garden centre in Bairnsdale which still employs several people today.

Current and past memberships include the service club, Apex. Gippsland car car club and the Latrobe Valley Aero club. He is an accomplished pilot.

“Several people have asked me to nominate for Council” he said. “I would like to join a new council with a new direction and serve our community with change and renewal”.
