MODELLING by the Baw Baw Shire suggests $60 million of planned major construction work in Warragul will create almost 160 jobs across the region over coming years.
The Warragul Station Precinct project, Warragul Leisure Centre redevelopment and the Newmason development are are together expected to create 101 direct jobs and 158 indirect jobs over the next two years.
Funding for the station precinct project, which will see improved parking and bus facilities and a second link between Alfred and Queen streets constructed, came from the state and former federal governments.

The leisure centre redevelopment, which will include the construction of an outdoor pool, will mostly come from the Baw Baw Shire Council. The redevelopment will be the largest single infrastructure project ever undertaken by the council.
The Newmason development, which will feature two floors of retail, corporate and medical businesses, a hotel and seven rooftop apartments, has private backing. Its construction has however been delayed; it was previously expected construction would be completed by about August this year.
When will new mason start now?
