Police were notified at 10pm Saturday 9 June that the group of Australian Defence Force personnel has become lost.

A police spokesperson told media the group consisted of five adults and 15 school-age army cadets.

All 20 were experienced and equipped for the expedition, which involved travelling further into the cave system than they had before.

The spokesperson said a number of the group became fatigued while in the caves.

No injuries were reported.
