THIEVES stole a drum of copper wire worth $1000 from SP AusNet’s Warragul depot over the weekend, and might have taken more had they not been disturbed.

Police told The Warragul Citizen thieves cut a hole in the Normanby Street depot fence to get in and a second drum had been moved, suggesting the thieves may have been disturbed by returning workers.

It is likely a vehicle was used in the theft and police are seeking information from the public to help track down the culprits.

Anyone with information should call the Warragul Police Station on 5622 7111, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
