The Baw Baw Shire Council has announced it is partially sponsoring a carriage on Steamrail Victoria’s Gippsland Snow Train.

The train, which runs to Traralgon on the 22nd, does not stop anywhere in the Baw Baw Shire, but busses from Moe will give passengers the option to visit Walhalla and Erica.

As a result of the funding, local producers Jindi Cheese and Wild Dog Winery will be represented on the train, as well as Baw Baw business and tourism representatives.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Diane Blackwood said in a media release the council expects tourism to grow as result of the trip.

“It’s my expectation that this trip will act as a catalyst for many more visits,” Cr Blackwood said.

The bus service will visit the Erica Hotel and the Walhalla Miner’s Café, and gives visitors the chance to tour the Walhalla gold mine and take a ride on the Walhalla Goldfields Railway.
