The State Government announced an order of 40 new V/Line VLocity carriages on Monday, with the first to enter service in 2014.

A spokesperson for Victorian Transport Minister Terry Mulder told The Warragul Citizen on Monday V/Line will decide which lines the new carriages will be assigned to at a later date.

“V/Line… will make a decision on which lines they will go on depending on patronage,” the spokesperson said.

Patronage on all V/Line lines grew this year, with the Gippsland line recording an increase of 90,000 trips – the equal-third highest increase in the state.
