Man caught starting fire despite ban: Coopers Creek

A FERNTREE Gully man will be charged after he was found with a campfire at Coopers Creek, south of Rawson, on a fire ban day.

A police spokesperson told The Warragul Citizen a Department of Sustainability and Environment member found the 34-year-old and two friends after they allegedly lit a campfire with a lighter on Friday.

A CFA crew attended the camp site and the fire remained under control.
