The VEC announced that Cr Kostos had accepted the role on the 30th, however the electoral body had to determine if he was still eligible for the position.

Cr Kostos joins Cr Bill Harrington as one of two representatives for the Mount Worth Ward.

Only three candidates contested the Mount Worth Ward in 2008. Cr Harrington was elected with 39.85 per cent of the vote, and John Durrant was elected with 32.89 per cent. Cr Kostos achieved 27.26 per cent of the vote.

John Durrant was the third councillor to have retired since the 2008 council election. Ruth McGowan left in April and Pauline Durnin left in May last year. They were replaced by Councillors Mel Neil and Julie Grant respectively.

Cr Kostos first served in the Council from 2005 to 2008 representing the now defunct Lardner Ward.

In a Baw Baw Shire Media Release Cr Kostos said that he feels privileged to re-join the council.

“I intend to represent the Mount Worth Ward and all Baw Baw Shire residents, and act on their behalf with due diligence,” Cr Kostos said.

The next general election for the Baw Baw Shire is expected to be next year.
