A new community bus service between Rawson, Erica, and Moe is now on the road.

The Baw Baw Shire-supported bus, which allows people to get to and from appointments, shops, and more in Moe, is likely to operate on a monthly basis, according to the council.

“It’s these types of services that allow for a more connected community and I’d like to thank the staff at council, Rawson Community Health Centre, and our local volunteers for making this service possible,” Baw Baw mayor Joe Gauci said in a media release.

“Our local volunteers have been passionate advocates for the return of this service and are very keen to bring this into their community for the aged clients who can no longer drive or do not feel comfortable driving to Moe.”

East ward councillor Michael Leaney said he hoped the return of the service, which has not operated for some time, was just the start.

“This new service is a great development providing much needed transport service to Rawson and Erica,” Cr Leaney said in a media release.

“To see more vital services returning to the more remote areas of the shire is a great thing.

“Hopefully there is more of this to come.”
