Six thefts from cars in Warragul and Drouin over weekend

POLICE are seeking information from the public about six thefts from cars in Warragul and Drouin over the weekend.

Thefts from vehicles occur frequently with some victims leaving cars unlocked and valuables visible. A 17-year-old Doveton man has been charged following a theft from a vehicle in Warragul last week.

The weekend’s thefts were:

Settlement Road, Drouin: committed shortly after 3am on Sunday. Images of the offender were captured on CCTV. The offender accessed an unlocked vehicle and stole a pink wallet containing a number of cards and $100 cash.

Church Street, Drouin: committed between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday. Offenders accessed an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway. A purse containing about $4, a driver licence, ATM cards and other cards was stolen along with a packet of cigarettes.

Montgomery Street, Warragul: two vehicles were accessed while parked in a driveway. A ratchet set was stolen from one vehicle, while  the glove box of the other was rifled through but nothing stolen.

Clifford Street, Warragul: committed between 2pm Saturday and 8am Sunday. Power tools were stolen from a toolbox bolted to the tray of a ute parked in the driveway.

Clifford Street, Warragul: committed between 9.30pm Friday and 9am Saturday. No sign of forced entry. Vehicle was parked on the nature strip outside the house. Investigators said the car was searched and personal items were thrown around the vehicle. The stereo was stolen from vehicle and the petrol cap was found open, but there was no evidence of petrol theft. The fuse box had been tampered with and the car was found in neutral with the handbrake off.

Ista Street, Warragul: committed between 3pm Thursday and 07.40am Sunday. A vehicle  parked in the driveway was found with a door ajar. A GPS was stolen and the glove box rifled through. There was no sign of forced entry.
