TOOLS worth approximately five thousand dollars have been stolen from the Walhalla Goldfields Railway.

In a statement on social media a spokesperson for the not-for-profit group said the tools had been stolen from the Thomson Station Way & Works shed “some time in the past 36 hours.”

“Three wheelbarrows (from inside the shed) were used to transport the gear to the lock gate some 300 metres away,” the spokesperson said.
“[The cost] is a lot for a not-for-profit community group!
“All the equipment is clearly marked with ‘WGR’ so it will be challenging to sell.
“If anyone has any information or saw anything, please contact Senior Constable Ian Naughton at the Rawson Police on 5165 3444.”
