Warragul targeted in latest thefts from vehicles

FIVE thefts from vehicles parked in residential areas of Warragul were reported by owners over the weekend.

A police spokesperson told The Warragul Citizen the offences occurred on Saturday night or Sunday morning.

“Offenders have accessed vehicles either by smashing windows or through unlocked doors,” the spokesperson said.

Two cars were targeted on Alexander Street, another two on Clifford Street and another on Sutton Street.

Thefts from motor vehicles have been a large problem in Baw Baw since November last year, with many incidents occurring in Drouin.

New statistics from Victoria Police indicate the number of thefts from motor vehicles to have come to police attention in Baw Baw has risen by around 15 per cent in the last year.
