A woman has been treated for shock after crashing into a tree beside the Princes Freeway at Darnum last Wednesday.

The Warragul Fire Brigade was notified of the accident at 10.23AM and quickly attended the scene with the State Emergency Service.

The vehicle had spun and stopped with the rear in the bushes between the east- and west-bound lanes.

The woman was able to leave the vehicle unassisted but the rear of the vehicle was badly damaged and had to be salvaged by recovery crews.

Police closed one lane of the freeway while emergency vehicles attended the scene.

In a Warragul Fire Brigade media release published yesterday,  volunteers warned drivers to stay safe on the roads this summer.

“We ask all drivers to be mindful of the varying conditions, and drive to the road conditions. As we approach Christmas, please think of your family and the families of other drivers, and do your bit to make sure everyone has a happy and safe Christmas.”
