YouthReach is a charity which aims to help disadvantaged Gippsland students enter further education through mentoring and scholarships.
Mr Hammond-Thomas said being featured for his work is humbling.
“YouthReach Inc was founded with the aim of helping students with their studies and broadening their employment opportunities,” Mr Hammond-Thomas said.
“To be recognised for trying to achieve this is truly humbling.”

White Pages Product Manager Sarah Simpson said Mr Hammond-Thomas is the best fit for this year’s phone book theme, A Helping Hand, The Aussie Way.
“Royhas set a fantastic example and it is fitting that he has been recognised on the cover of the Warragul White Pages and Yellow Pages,” Ms Simpson said.
The 2012/13 book will be distributed in Warragul, Drouin, Yarragon, Trafalgar, Wonthaggi, Leongatha, Korumburra and surrounding areas over the next six weeks.
The book will be in a new smaller format, but due to negative feedback already received from users and advertisers it will return to normal size for 2013/14.
Mr Hammond-Thomas replaces Dr Malcolm McKelvie, who featured on the 2011/12 book for his work with the Baw Baw Sustainability Network.
What a fitting way to acknowledge the work of this quiet, selfless achiever. The cover of something many of us use every day is a handy place for a reminder that there are many ways to contribute to a better world.
